So who am I?
Well my name is Mark Albanese.
At this stage in my life, I am a year 11 high school student with a certificate II in Multimedia and certificate I in Graphics Design both obtained through high school.
My goal in life is very simple; create and maintain a computer gaming company, which cares about its fans and community, provide a decent service for users to interact with for free, give real value for money, an above all, never sell out.
My main hobby is game development; it all started back in 2006 when I got my first computer a Compaq Presario SR1910AN, I played a lot of games on it and towards the end of the year I started studying their behaviour, one of the many things that court my attention was the similar properties and structure that some games contained, compared to others, I later found out that a lot of the games that contain these similar structures and properties ran, or were powered by the same engine or technology.
The story behind Extinction, and The Cactus Wearing Cowboy Hat Mod Team
I am a creative person by nature; around 2008 I started "modding" (modifying) some of the games that I owned, but this was always very limiting, so I decided to start making my own games from scratch, it was hard to find an engine to work with at first, but my persistence paid off, then all I needed was a project, after a long discussion with some of my friends, I came up with a good title for a game called "Extinction" and also wrote the story and design documentation for it, it was from this that some of my friends became really interested in Extinction and wanted to help me with it, this is how Cactus Wearing Cowboy Hat Mod Team came about.
Around the end of 2009 I adopted a more professional approach to game development with the creation of 2nd wave Entertainment, since then, I have gone on to do other things as an independent developer, such as work on the WotW project on Moddb.
My portfolio
What you see here, and in all other pages that are linked, is all the work that I have done in regards to game development, over the past 2 and a half years or so, it mostly displays some of my skills as such, from what I think, is quite allot for someone who only has a certificate II in Multimedia, I also taught myself how to program; starting with object-oriented languages such as Visual Basic, then moving on up to C# and Flash Action script, and eventually, native C++ which is my favourite programming language.
I really enjoy gaming, and in a sense creating games, and for that I have two simple philosophies that are; 1.) If a product was any good, people would pay money for it. 2.) You'll never think you'll know what's possible unless you try.
